About

Adventure Racing Federation of India (ARFI)

The Adventure Racing Federation of India (ARFI) is the official governing body dedicated to promoting, organizing, and developing adventure racing in India. Established in 2016, ARFI has played a pivotal role in introducing multi-discipline endurance races that test physical stamina, strategy, teamwork, and navigation skills across some of the most challenging terrains in the country.

Adventure racing is not just a sport—it is an ultimate test of endurance, adaptability, and survival skills. Unlike traditional races, adventure racing demands multi-terrain navigation, strategic decision-making, and self-sufficiency, making it one of the most demanding and exhilarating sports in the world. ARFI is committed to bringing this high-intensity sport to the mainstream, creating opportunities for both elite athletes and adventure enthusiasts to participate in races that push them beyond their limits.

Our Mission

ARFI’s primary mission is to establish adventure racing as a premier sport in India by organizing International, National, Zonal, State, and District-level competitions that cater to athletes of all skill levels. These races vary in format, from single-day sprints designed for speed and agility to multi-day expedition-style challenges that require endurance, resilience, and expert navigation.

Our Objectives

Through these events, ARFI aims to:

  • Encourage adventure sports participation among youth and professionals.
  • Train and develop elite adventure athletes to compete on global platforms.
  • Promote eco-friendly racing and sustainable tourism in remote locations.

Collaborate with national and international bodies to expand adventure sports in India.

Pioneering India’s Adventure Racing Movement

Since its launch, ARFI has led the charge in organizing high-altitude, high-endurance races across India’s most rugged landscapes. Its inaugural international adventure race took place in Leh-Ladakh in 2016, testing participants in one of the harshest environments on earth. This was followed by the Young India Challenge Cup, a Media Adventure Race in Karnataka and Maharashtra’s Dandeli region, and numerous other expedition-style events that combined technical skills, physical resilience, and mental toughness.

With each passing year, ARFI is expanding its footprint, introducing new race formats, engaging with athletes from across India and abroad, and developing India’s adventure sports ecosystem. Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer, a long-distance runner, a rock climber, or an adrenaline-seeker, ARFI offers a platform to test your limits and redefine adventure.
