PAST EXPEDITIONS - A Legacy of High-Intensity Adventure Racing

ARFI made history by launching India’s first-ever International Adventure Race in Leh-Ladakh (September 2016), testing participants in harsh high-altitude conditions. This was followed by the Young India Challenge Cup and a Media Adventure Race in the Dandeli region of Karnataka and Maharashtra, further cementing ARFI’s role as a trailblazer in India’s adventure racing scene. With a vision to develop India’s adventure sports ecosystem, ARFI continues to push the boundaries, organizing world-class races, fostering grassroots talent, and bringing together athletes, explorers, and adventure enthusiasts from across the nation.

HIMALAYAN CHALLENGE – LADAKH
24 – 27 SEPT 2016

In September 2016, the Adventure Racing Federation of India (ARFI) made history by launching India’s first-ever International Adventure Race in Leh-Ladakh, just three months after its inception. Held from September 24th to 27th, the race tested participants in extreme high-altitude conditions, challenging terrain, and harsh climatic environments. Teams navigated through rugged mountains, glacial rivers, and steep inclines, pushing their endurance to the limit. Successfully organizing such a demanding event in record time showcased ARFI’s commitment to adventure sports and positioned India as a global destination for extreme endurance racing.

YOUNG INDIA CHALLENGE CUP – WESTERN GHATS
9 – 11 DEC 2016

Following the success of India’s first International Adventure Race in Leh-Ladakh, ARFI continued to pioneer adventure racing in the country by organizing the Young India Challenge Cup, Young India Adventure Racing Championship and a Media Adventure Race in the Dandeli region of Karnataka and Maharashtra. These events were further expanded to the Western Ghats, covering the breathtaking landscapes along the Goa-Karnataka-Maharashtra border. Combining the thrill of endurance racing with the region’s rich biodiversity, dense forests, and challenging topography, these races provided participants—both professional athletes and media representatives—with firsthand exposure to the excitement and demands of adventure racing.
